It’s a small world after all…….

Love it, like it or somewhere on the opposite end of the spectrum, the song “It’s a Small World” written by the Sherman Brothers for Walt Disney’s attraction of the same name is claimed to be the most performed and translated piece of music on earth.  To that, I say wooohooo, haha and zip-a-dee-doo-dah!!

I am going to admit that It’s a Small World is one of my favourite Disney rides.  It never ceases to make me tear up, hearing these lyrics (yes, over and over and over again during the 15 minute or so ride) sung by animated dolls in their native language and seeing all the different countries represented with traditional costumes and unique cultural items.

Small World

The overall theme of the attraction is that of global peace and unity.  I’m sure most of you would agree that we need that more than ever in the world.  I recently read a statistic that stated there are 20 million people talking about what’s wrong in the world and approximately 2 million talking about what’s right.  How someone came up with those numbers, I’m not sure.  What it does indicate and I both hear and see signs of this far too often, is that many of us focus on the negative instead of celebrating the positive.  I am not saying there are not serious issues in the world; we all know that there are.  But by focusing on optimism, hope, love and compassion, and taking action with those values, we can create really good changes.

We are all so connected, there’s so much that we share and many of us forget that.  We get wrapped up in chaos that we sometimes create ourselves; in our lives of stuff and more stuff; we judge without seeking to understand; we don’t enjoy the present moment because we are focusing on the past or the future.  We forget that today is a gift, to be grateful, that goodness and kindness transforms lives, and that the people who cross our paths are just…..like……us.  They have stories and struggles.  They laugh like us, they cry like us, they have fears like us and they have hope like us.

Despite the fact that mountains divide and oceans are wide, how often have you heard it said that it’s a small world?  I bet that most of you have at some point in your life with the people you have met or situations you have been in.  The kindness of strangers, or you meet someone who knows someone you know or has been somewhere you have been, or you cross paths with someone who has common interests, or your heart and soul is captivated, and perhaps changed by the stories of another person, group of people or culture.

I am going to close today’s writing with this powerful and amazing statement…….a smile means friendship to everyone.  What’s really awesome is that a smile is free, costs nothing, zippo, totally BONUS.  It’s the best accessory that any of us can wear and definitely a gift we give another person (plus it makes us feel super dooper happy!)  A smile is an international sign of peace and friendship.  It crosses all language barriers, generations and cultures.  So go on, give it a try.  Smile more often than you do now at those amazing people who you encounter today.  Be that “good change” the world needs because it truly is a small world and we are all in it together.

To global peace, love and good changes,

Caron

It’s not over yet baby:   I bet, I just totally bet you were either singing or humming “It’s A Small World” while reading this story.  Come on, admit it.  And right now you’re smiling, because you feel really, really gooooooood.   And yes, I bet the song is stuck in your head now……you may as well just keep singing it my friend…….just go with it………just go with it all!   You’re welcome 🙂

FLOWER POWER…….something to celebrate!

Welcome to Flower Power where the saying goes:  “Wear happy, share happy, be happy”.  Simple as that.  These happiness blooms are created with love and aloha by me!

For many years now, I have worn a flower in my hair.  Funny thing is that I am from the prairies in Canada and regularly started wearing a flower in my hair in the winter after a tropical holiday we took.  Totally non-typical and out of place.  I think that’s what I liked about it……it made me feel happy and reminded me that it truly is a good life, wherever you are!

I would get many comments from people when they saw me still wearing a flower months later.  I rarely went out in public without it.  The flower continued to make me feel grateful and happy, and I know it made other people feel happy too.  It’s at the point now where if I’m not wearing my flower, people who know me will ask if there is something wrong.  It’s as second nature to me as brushing my teeth and having random dance parties.

So this is where things get fun.  I have decided to share the happiness.  Cuz like who made the rule that says you should only wear a flower when you’re on a tropical holiday?  That rule totally needs to be broken!!

Each flower is on a clip so you can put them in your hair, on your hat, on your cat, on your headband, on your lapel, on your lampshade, or whatever flips your clip!  They are $12 Cdn (taxes in) plus shipping and packaged up all special and fun.  I have a large selection of sizes and colors depending on what flowers are available and make me stop in my tracks with stars in my eyes.  Oh and because you are so special and unique and awesome, each flower also includes a handwritten message of aloha just for YOU.  Baby, you’re worth it!
