FLOWER POWER…….something to celebrate!

Welcome to Flower Power where the saying goes:  “Wear happy, share happy, be happy”.  Simple as that.  These happiness blooms are created with love and aloha by me!

For many years now, I have worn a flower in my hair.  Funny thing is that I am from the prairies in Canada and regularly started wearing a flower in my hair in the winter after a tropical holiday we took.  Totally non-typical and out of place.  I think that’s what I liked about it……it made me feel happy and reminded me that it truly is a good life, wherever you are!

I would get many comments from people when they saw me still wearing a flower months later.  I rarely went out in public without it.  The flower continued to make me feel grateful and happy, and I know it made other people feel happy too.  It’s at the point now where if I’m not wearing my flower, people who know me will ask if there is something wrong.  It’s as second nature to me as brushing my teeth and having random dance parties.

So this is where things get fun.  I have decided to share the happiness.  Cuz like who made the rule that says you should only wear a flower when you’re on a tropical holiday?  That rule totally needs to be broken!!

Each flower is on a clip so you can put them in your hair, on your hat, on your cat, on your headband, on your lapel, on your lampshade, or whatever flips your clip!  They are $12 Cdn (taxes in) plus shipping and packaged up all special and fun.  I have a large selection of sizes and colors depending on what flowers are available and make me stop in my tracks with stars in my eyes.  Oh and because you are so special and unique and awesome, each flower also includes a handwritten message of aloha just for YOU.  Baby, you’re worth it!

To order “A Happiness Flower” go to my website www.goodandkindcompany.com/Good Projects/Flower Power.
There is information and a link for you there.  You’ll also see me out and about at markets, swap meets, craft shows, festivals, parties, parades and maybe one day, in my “happiness bus”.  Yeah, that is so going to happen!

Make sure you join my mailing list on the home page of my website so you will be updated of new merchandise launches and other “fun and happy” happenings.

Happiness.  Positively!  (Let’s keep this movement “moving” my friends….)

With aloha,

Caron

Ps.  I am sooooo excited to tell you that I am bringing in a huge assortment of tropical flowers from Hawaii and I will post pictures to let you know when those are available!

Happy Aloha Friday – Choose HAPPY.

It’s Aloha Friday today so happy Aloha Friday to YOU and absolutely everyone!

We have fond memories of our year in Hawaii…..the friendships, the experiences, the stunning views, the mana (good energy) and definitely the aloha spirit.  Aloha Friday would be the equivalent to what we refer to as “casual Fridays”.  Typically, people will wear their aloha attire to work and it’s of course a time for many to acknowledge the end of a work week.   Wooohooo!  Aloha Fridays involve “get together’s”, celebrations and all things happy.  This is something that people anywhere and everywhere can do.

I invite you to make it a happy Aloha Friday, a happy Friday, a happy day today and any day that you choose.  Choose to see the good, choose optimism, choose gratitude, choose to do good, choose aloha and choose happy wherever you are.  Magical things happen to us and to others when we make that choice……

To happy dances and joyful prances,

Caron

A new day is a gift for you. Here are some reasons why…

If you are reading this, one thing is for sure….you woke up today!  You’re alive and you’re here to live another day.  I consider that a gift.  Here are a few reasons why I believe a new day is a gift:

  • We have the opportunity to be a better version of the person we were yesterday.  That’s the only person we should try to be better than; the person we were yesterday.
  • We have the chance to be kinder in our words and in our actions.  Kinder to our friends, to our family, to the people who cross our path and want to be noticed.
  • We have the privilege of doing something good for the world.  Whether it’s volunteering, waving, letting someone in the lane in front of us, smiling, picking up litter, carrying out someone’s groceries, donating however you can, leaving a big tip, recycling, taking the time to chat with a stranger, listening and seeking to understand, practicing empathy, compassion and respect, passing along compliments and words of encouragement, promoting good news stories instead of negative, paying for someone’s coffee or meal, bringing attention to causes or organizations making a positive difference, starting our own cause to promote an issue that needs attention in the world, practicing non-judgement, hugging, sharing in a laugh.
  • We have the chance to make amends, come to an understanding, make peace with or apologize for something that happened before.  Do not live with regrets on this one!
  • We have the opportunity to experience something new that we have been postponing for whatever reason.  This could include volunteering, eating healthier, going on a road trip, visiting new places, getting rid of some of our stuff that no longer serves us, slowing down and realizing that’s okay, taking action on a self improvement initiative, finding a new job, trying out a new recipe or signing up for cooking lessons, taking a new route for our daily walk or run, singing in our car with the windows down, realizing that we need (!) want singing lessons and signing up for them, not watching TV for a whole day and enjoying the peace and clarity that brings, starting a blog, making new friends and building new relationships, reconnecting with friends and family that we miss, distancing ourselves from friends and relationships that do not serve us, breaking out in impromptu dance sessions in public, going on an adventure, learning a new sport or hobby or pursuing a talent.

Moving forward and living life with passion and gratitude = THRIVING.

  • We have the honour to experience something again or try something we did before with a new perspective.  Witnessing a sunrise and sunset, making memories and sharing dreams with friends and family, talking about old memories with friends and family, playing cards with seniors, enjoying youthful fun with children and grandchildren, playing outside, doing cartwheels (I did this 2 days ago!), revisiting places we have been to, watching for falling stars, looking for the big and little dipper, re-reading books that inspire or educate, listening to our favourite music from our past.
  • We have the chance to rethink, redo, retry.  Maybe some things didn’t go quite the way we planned, maybe we made some poor choices or bad decisions, maybe we feel that luck is not on our side, maybe we feel defeated, stuck or lost.  Who hasn’t?  Reach out to a person or a support group who can help with the transition through your challenges.  Another day provides us with the chance to think differently, to see things differently, to do things differently or perhaps to get rid of some ideas all together and try a whole other plan of action.  Now there’s an opportunity!

Here’s to a new day.  It’s another gift.  I hope you think so too!

Be calm & THRIVE ON,

Caron

What you need to know about the “bounce concept”.

We met some new friends on July 4!  It’s exciting to meet new people, discover common interests, learn about each other’s story and share in the moment of “now”.  I cannot say this often enough……….we truly have more in common with each other than we realize.
Jim was with the group of us that evening to share in the festivities.  What an amazing person and what a beautiful opportunity to meet him.  Jim is a Korean War veteran and one of the most fascinating people we have ever met.  Our evening progressed with lively conversation, which included laughter, stories, listening, emotion and a promise to reconnect again.
One of the things Jim said that evening resonated with me.  He said “we like young people because they put a ‘bounce’ in our step”.  Well, first of all, thank you for referring to us as “young”!  The cool thing Jim is that you actually put a bounce in our step and we thank you for that.
But really think about what he said and the opportunity that this brings.  Who has impacted you with their presence, their words, their spirit and energy?  Who has put a bounce in your step?  It may be someone you know well or someone who briefly crossed your path.  And consider the possibility that you have to change someone else’s moment, day or life by reaching out in kindness and compassion.  You have within yourself the ability to put a bounce in someone else’s step.  How awesome and magical!
I have been thinking for the past 5 days about the “bounce” concept and all that it represents.  It makes me smile.  It makes me happy.  And it makes me super grateful.  Let’s do this!!
Cheers to you Jim!

Remember when….

Remember when we were kids and we laughed lots, had fun with very little, played outside, didn’t judge, got excited about simple things, smiled at everyone, forgave quickly, dreamed big and we were happy for no reason at all?

We can be that way now and it’s just as good as we remember.  Consider all the wonderful lessons we can apply to our sometimes complex and stressful lives from the behaviour of kids.

We really should do that now!

Here’s to the revival of our youth,

Caron
