The launch of “LIVE ALOHA”!!!

This is it folks……..it is truly happening!!

My husband Rob, my sister Lorie and I have joined together and we are ready (as ready as we can be) to launch a business!  In fact, as I type this marketing has begun.  Yes, these are exciting times and the journey to this point has been interesting to say the least.  We are 3 optimistic people who believe in the power of making our dreams come true and inspiring others to do the same.  We are following our passion of making the world a better place, of spreading a message of kindness, love & hope.  We are living aloha.

Our business is called Live Aloha!  Our mission is to spread the positive message of aloha globally.  We are doing this through lifestyle products that promote this as well as through events, stories and whatever method we find to “get it out there” (this may or may not involve random dance parties)!

Aloha is one of the most beautiful and powerful words in the world:

Aloha is a Hawaiian word typically associated with greeting another person with hello or good-bye. The literal meaning of aloha is “the presence of breath” or “the breath of life.” It comes from “Alo,” meaning presence, front and face, and “ha,” meaning breath. It also has a deeper impact on the Hawaiian culture. For the Hawaiians, it is “The Aloha Spirit” – a unique way of living, the ultimate lifestyle, and the secret to a full and happy life.

Aloha is not only a word, it is a way of living, an attitude and expresses guidelines

to help us in our lives – kindness, patience, compassion, respect, togetherness,

affection, empathy, peace, & love.

Aloha means we are able to recognize and appreciate the uniqueness and differences each of us bring into this world. Honor and respect your family, friends, and all the people who pass through your life. Every point of contact with another person teaches us something about life or about ourselves.  Aloha does not pass judgement on others for it always trusts, always hopes and always protects.

It is that aloha, caring and spirituality that allows us to build on each others strengths and join together on this magnificent journey we call “Life”.

We are choosing to live aloha and here’s why:

There are plenty of reasons to be frustrated with the state of the world and life right now.  And there are many people focusing on what’s wrong, what will go wrong and living a fear based life as a result of this.  This mindset perpetuates all facets of people’s experiences and affects thoughts, words and actions.  So the cycle continues.  We are choosing to spread a movement and way of life to change this for ourselves and others.

My husband Rob and I have shared in plenty of experiences during their 34 year adventure together.  Opportunities/challenges, joy/sadness, happiness/heartache, learning/growing, happiness/frustration, abundance/setbacks, things that most people can certainly relate to.  Through everything, we choose to live a life of optimism, of wonder and of believing that goodness prevails.  Our travels have taken us to the Hawaiian Islands several times and we were instantly captivated by not only the beauty but of the mana (energy) that exists.  This mana, the kindness of the people and the breath-taking beauty of this magical place brought us back many times.  We had the privilege of living and working in Hawaii for a year and we made a commitment to submerge ourselves into the culture to gain a deeper understanding of the people and history of Hawaii.  It was then that we discovered the beauty of “living aloha”.  We volunteered; we networked with the locals; I joined Halau Kiuwailehua (hula studio); we supported local businesses, met the hardworking owners and learned of their stories; we went where the locals went; I joined Toastmasters; Rob learned about Hawaiian business; we gained knowledge, understanding and compassion of the Hawaiian history and way of life.

Lorie is an entrepreneur at heart who has impacted many with her grace and generosity.  She honors her own stories, experiences and personal growth which have propelled her to new heights of learning.  This new level of learning has excelled Lorie’s skills in business by promoting positive experience in business.  Lorie shares in the passion of “living aloha” and spreading this message globally to create positive change in a world that needs it more than ever.

There are plenty of reasons to be hopeful with the state of the world and life right now.  There are many people focusing on what’s good, what will go right and living a love based life as a result of this.  This mindset perpetuates all facets of people’s experiences and affects thoughts, words and actions.  So the cycle continues.  We are choosing to spread a movement and way of life to continue this for ourselves and others.  We are choosing to live aloha!

How we are going to do this:

Rob, Lorie and I each have unique talents and gifts, just as everyone on this world of wonder does.  Joining together to “be and do more” is exciting and believing that we can make a good difference in people’s lives is even more exciting.  Together the three of us will spread the beautiful and powerful message of “Live Aloha” globally, wherever people are, through merchandise, stories, adventures and positive actions.

The ripple effect of aloha:

Its deep meaning starts by teaching ourselves to love our own beings first and afterwards to spread the love to others.

A life of Aloha is one when the heart is so full that it has the power to influence others around you with your spirit. The best part of Aloha is that the more you express your love and compassion for yourself and those around you, the more it comes back to you.

Use the word aloha with a pure heart and good intention.
Be guided by aloha and make good choices.
Live aloha wherever you are!

Yes, these are exciting times.  As I have mentioned many, many times, a dream forever stays in your head and heart until you take action on it.  I have also mentioned many, many times that it is never too late to launch that business, take that class, join that club, learn something new, do something brave, live out loud, wander and wonder.  Things may not go exactly as you envisioned, but I guarantee you will learn something valuable, you will come out ahead and you just might find that it is the best decision you have ever made!

Go on a check us out at www.livealoha.ca (for all of our Canadian friends and family) and www.livealoha.com (for all of our global friends and family).  Follow us on Instagram @livealohaco (we love instagram).  Follow us on Facebook @livealoha (getting better at this).  Look for our “Live Aloha” party bus coming through your area in the near future where there will be bubbles, dancing, rockin’ Live Aloha merchandise so you can “wear good, spread good, live good”, probably some glitter, but most of all a whole lotta LOVE!

With aloha,

Caron, Rob and Lorie

Tips to help you keep goin’ and growin’ in your journey….

Have any of you noticed how many people are struggling right now?  Whether it’s dealing with challenges, obstacles, frustration, feeling stuck, financial hardship, anger, regret….you name it.  I have noticed.  I have faced a lot of these things too.  You’ve no doubt heard the saying that when one of us hurts, we all hurt.

I’ve had to learn some hard lessons.  I’ve written a lot about celebrating the contrast; we cannot appreciate light without darkness, joy without sorrow, success without failure.  We cannot fix everything or everyone.  At some point in our lives we all make poor choices and decisions and experience “shoulda/woulda/coulda” moments.  We question some relationships and ponder over people’s behaviors.  WHY?  WHY?  WHY!!!

We all have a lot in common don’t we?  Once we engage in honest and authentic conversations with people, we realize how very much alike we are.  We are definitely not alone and that it comforting.  I have discovered some things (FREE things!) that have significantly helped me and continue to help me as I navigate along and make the best of my journey.  Here is what I have learned:

  1. We can always learn and grow.  We all stumble, we all fall.  Never stop improving yourself.  EVER.
  2. We have control over something powerful……our thoughts, our words, our actions and our reactions.  Choose wisely and carefully.
  3. Everyone is doing the best they can with what they know and where they are.  Think about that.  We are all together in this journey, YES, but we are all unique.  Do not judge.  Respect one another.
  4. Optimism and gratitude are game-changers and create magic & miracles in transforming our lives.
  5. People are craving to be noticed.  A smile, a gesture, a sincere “hello” can change someone’s day or future.  Again, we cannot fix everything or everyone but we can influence hope and connection with kindness and compassion.   Even to those who we may think deserve it the least.  Again, refer to #3.
  6. People change, relationships change, it’s okay.  Celebrate the good memories, learn from the not so good, bless everyone and carry on.  Regret and resentment serves no one and takes up space in our heads.  Put a reserved sign on that valuable parking spot for goodness and growth.
  7. Celebrate the contrast!  Learn from mistakes and challenges, go forward the best you can through obstacles, grow, be better, be stronger.
  8. Trying new things adds major fun, whimsy and excitement to life.  Take that class, join that group, volunteer for that organization who needs you, learn that instrument, dance in your kitchen, wave to random people, sing in the grocery store…..you get the picture!
  9. Keep dreaming BIG, keep believing BIGGER, and by all means take action (BIGGEST) or that dream forever stays in your head.  Even if things do not go as planned, you tried and you will without a doubt……learn, grow and know!

Your journey.  The story of YOU!

In celebration, joy and love,

Caron

PS – YOU are definitely not alone….

It’s a small world after all…….

Love it, like it or somewhere on the opposite end of the spectrum, the song “It’s a Small World” written by the Sherman Brothers for Walt Disney’s attraction of the same name is claimed to be the most performed and translated piece of music on earth.  To that, I say wooohooo, haha and zip-a-dee-doo-dah!!

I am going to admit that It’s a Small World is one of my favourite Disney rides.  It never ceases to make me tear up, hearing these lyrics (yes, over and over and over again during the 15 minute or so ride) sung by animated dolls in their native language and seeing all the different countries represented with traditional costumes and unique cultural items.

Small World

The overall theme of the attraction is that of global peace and unity.  I’m sure most of you would agree that we need that more than ever in the world.  I recently read a statistic that stated there are 20 million people talking about what’s wrong in the world and approximately 2 million talking about what’s right.  How someone came up with those numbers, I’m not sure.  What it does indicate and I both hear and see signs of this far too often, is that many of us focus on the negative instead of celebrating the positive.  I am not saying there are not serious issues in the world; we all know that there are.  But by focusing on optimism, hope, love and compassion, and taking action with those values, we can create really good changes.

We are all so connected, there’s so much that we share and many of us forget that.  We get wrapped up in chaos that we sometimes create ourselves; in our lives of stuff and more stuff; we judge without seeking to understand; we don’t enjoy the present moment because we are focusing on the past or the future.  We forget that today is a gift, to be grateful, that goodness and kindness transforms lives, and that the people who cross our paths are just…..like……us.  They have stories and struggles.  They laugh like us, they cry like us, they have fears like us and they have hope like us.

Despite the fact that mountains divide and oceans are wide, how often have you heard it said that it’s a small world?  I bet that most of you have at some point in your life with the people you have met or situations you have been in.  The kindness of strangers, or you meet someone who knows someone you know or has been somewhere you have been, or you cross paths with someone who has common interests, or your heart and soul is captivated, and perhaps changed by the stories of another person, group of people or culture.

I am going to close today’s writing with this powerful and amazing statement…….a smile means friendship to everyone.  What’s really awesome is that a smile is free, costs nothing, zippo, totally BONUS.  It’s the best accessory that any of us can wear and definitely a gift we give another person (plus it makes us feel super dooper happy!)  A smile is an international sign of peace and friendship.  It crosses all language barriers, generations and cultures.  So go on, give it a try.  Smile more often than you do now at those amazing people who you encounter today.  Be that “good change” the world needs because it truly is a small world and we are all in it together.

To global peace, love and good changes,

Caron

It’s not over yet baby:   I bet, I just totally bet you were either singing or humming “It’s A Small World” while reading this story.  Come on, admit it.  And right now you’re smiling, because you feel really, really gooooooood.   And yes, I bet the song is stuck in your head now……you may as well just keep singing it my friend…….just go with it………just go with it all!   You’re welcome 🙂

Celebrating moments that turn into awesomeness….

Some moments turn out way more awesome than we can imagine.

Fun things are fun!  Laughter is contagious!!  No permission needed for whimsy!!!  Some moments turn into unexpected awesomeness.  This was one of those times……

Laughter, fun and whimsy connect us as human beings, keep us YOUNG, release stress, build relationships and create all sorts of wonderful magic in our lives.

I was recently visiting my mom and grandma before a speaking event in Saskatchewan.  Mom and I try our best to meet at grandmas as often as we can (we all live in different communities).  Our get-togethers most often involve catching up, sharing in meals, a few interesting games of rummy (guess who wins most often?), a lot of laughs, a little bit of mischief, some naptime and simply sharing in our time together.

I decided we should all sport “a good life” shirt a get a 3 generation picture.  What happened next is something I can’t explain exactly.  You can see from the progression of pictures that it was an absolute explosion of uncontrollable laughter between my mom and grandma.  I decided to capture a few pictures of them in action before sneaking in behind them to get in on the fun!!  Thanks to my aunt Renee who was visiting for taking the group photos.  It certainly took a while for us to be able to compose ourselves and say “cheese”!

This was one of those moments that we will all remember for a long, long time.  Laughing until we cry, feeling the joy, celebrating being together and simply living “a good life”.

Celebrate on my friends,

Caron

You are an important part of the YOUNIVERSE!

It’s so fantastic to really consider the special part that each of us plays in the youniverse.  Every single one of us.

Do you ever stop and think about the many people who have crossed your path, who know someone that you know, who have been somewhere you have been, who like the same things you do?  Have you ever met people that you feel you’ve met before?  Oh yeah.  It happens in the most random places, at the most random times and circumstances when you take the time to have a dialogue with another human being.

Have you ever had a conversation with a person you just met and things go like this:  “No way!  You’ve got to be kidding.  You’re not going to believe this!”  I’m sure you have.  Woohoo, you have an instant bond and common connection with someone you hardly know.  Yep you do! This creates a positive shift in infinite ways and sends ripples of awesomeness EVERYWHERE…..far, further, farther than that far!  Because you are a very important part of the youniverse and so are they.

It’s really big out there, but we are all connected.

We are all right here, right now, together.  That’s kinda cool, and presents all sorts of fun and interesting possibilities.  So get out there and make sure you take the time to talk.  To anyone, to everyone.  Be curious.  Be present.  Be brave.  Be non-judgemental.  Be compassionate.  Be understanding.  Be kind.  Be love.  Seek to understand.  Learn.  Grow.  Carry on.  Create some awesomeness in this amazing youniverse!

Can’t wait to meet YOU out there,

Caron

Kindness helps. Kindness heals. POSITIVELY!

I write about the power of kindness often because I feel that the world needs it more than ever.  Messages and stories about acts of kindness warm our hearts and touch our souls.  They bring us together collectively as human beings.  We want to share these stories; we want to be a part of these stories; we want these stories to heal the world.

We can always show more kindness towards one another.

Together, let’s show some kindness towards those:

Who work proudly, who seek work, who represent hope, who pick up our garbage, who teach our children, who raised us, who tried their best, who let us merge, who are frustrated, who are sad, who ring in our groceries, who smile at us for no reason, who make us laugh, who compliment us, who include us, who encourage us, who say nothing, who say nothing positive, who take a chance, who take no chances, who take our tickets, who greet us, who keep in touch with us, who are scared, who are alone, who appear to have it all, who have very little, who spread happiness, who do not yet know true happiness, who dwell on “the negative”, who celebrate “the good”, who drive our taxi/bus, who farm the land, who give back, who build, who repair, who clean up, who feed, who care, who  pump our gas,  who want to learn, who get help, who ask for help, who need help but are scared to ask, who are lost, who are found, who are searching, who are struggling, who are confused, who volunteer , who heal, who seek healing, who fall down, who get back up, who handle our luggage, who follow their dreams, who believe in possibilities, who check us in, who practice non-judgment, who are fair, who keep us safe, who seek justice, who provide, who share, who reach out, who reach in, who love, who are looking for love, who spread kindness, who are looking for kindness.  And together, let’s show that kindness TODAY.

I’m sure many of you are aware of the devastating wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada and area.  The entire city (80,000+ people) has been evacuated and over 1,600 homes and buildings have been destroyed.  There are numerous stories circulating of the kindness, generosity and humanity of people and organizations towards those impacted by this tragedy.   I personally made a donation through the Canadian Red Cross (www.redcross.ca) and this took me less than 2 minutes to process.   There are uplifting stories of airlines, businesses, community groups, individuals, corporations and volunteer organizations who have selfishly reached out with acts of kindness and support.  There are hundreds of brave people who are at the scene doing what they can to ensure the safety of all involved and to minimize the impact of this wildfire.  Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to do what they can.  Please join me in sending prayers and support to all involved.

Together in kindness,

Caron

6 super simple ways to experience a better life with optimism.

I think often about optimism.  Choosing optimism (and it is a choice) as often as I can has been life changing for me.  Let’s be honest though, life isn’t always the most predictable happy dancin’, joy trippin’ experience we signed up for.  Sigh, I’m sure you can relate.  Each one of us has our own challenges and struggles but we have something else in common.  We each have the opportunity to choose optimism over pessimism, positive over negative, and to experience a better life as a result of this habit!

Here are 6 super simple ways to experience a better life with optimism:

  1. The first thing to do upon waking in the morning: give thanks for something.  Practicing gratitude is a game changer – guaranteed.  You woke up!  Today is an opportunity to make a difference, to try something new, to be a better person than you were yesterday, to tell family and friends you love them, to reconnect with someone you’ve been thinking of, to connect with someone new, to start over, to redo, to rethink, to renew, to celebrate life and all the gifts it offers.  Simply do whatever you can with whatever you have and wherever you are!
  2. (Be)lieve (the)re is (good) in the world. Sure there are lots of nasty and sad things that happen, all over, every day.  But there are even more good and inspiring things.  Be one of them!
  3. Simplify your life so you can appreciate more (with less). The more stuff/things/gadgets/gizmos we have (or think we have to have), the more cluttered our lives and minds become.  The faster we go, filling our lives with “busyness”, the harder it will be to get off that spinning wheel.  Can you eliminate one thing, one commitment, one habit that is causing you overload?  I’m sure you can and you are totally going to thank yourself for taking that step!
  4. Practice healthy habits that help you grow emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally. Get active however you can, be mindful of watch you watch, read, listen to, practice focused breathing whenever you can to feed your soul and calm your mind, eat well and think about what you are putting into your body, get enough sleep, C.A.R.E.TM  more, choose to be kind, choose to see the good, choose to make a positive difference, choose to learn and grow and evolve, choose to love yourself, choose to love others, choose to think differently, choose to be brave, choose to take a stand, choose your thoughts, choose to believe, choose to speak your truth, choose to forgive, choose to live your best life.
  5. Be compassionate and non-judgmental. We never know what another person is dealing with.  Health issues, care-giving, finances, insecurity, job loss, relationship problems, loss, purpose, fear, loneliness, frustration, overwhelm, overload.  Your smile, encouraging words, or act of kindness may be all it takes to make someone’s day better (including your own!)
  6. Who are you surrounding yourself with? I encourage you to take the time to look at this.  This includes who you physically surround yourself with as well as those you are surrounded with through social media.  Both make an impact. We need to be mindful to maintain and celebrate those relationships that are serving us and distance or even eliminate those relationships that are bringing us down.  It may be difficult to take that step, but it is crucial for personal growth, peace and happiness.  In situations where distancing yourself is difficult, such as a work environment, refer to the suggestions in the previous points I have listed.  Any of those suggestions will help you to cope, and perhaps even thrive in challenging relationship situations.

Choose optimism and “magic” follows, more of it than you can imagine.  Joy will show up in your life in the most unexpected moments, in the simplest of ways, and with increased frequency.  Some things you never “saw” before will wonderfully appear.  Your experiences will change, your relationships will shift, your life will change.  All because you chose.

Together in the journey,

Caron
